What the heck is “Movie Riffing?”
Movie Riffing is the art of adding comedic commentary to a movie. The most famous (and first) riffers, of course, are the gang from Mystery Science Theater 3000, who are back with even more hilarity after a long absence. They have also spun off to other wonderful riffing projects like Rifftrax and The Mads are Back.
Mystery Science Theater 3000, you say?
Yes! In fact, our very own Eric Fell, Patrick Maliha, and Shaun Stewart wrote for the Saturn-Award Nominated 11th season of Mystery Science Theater 3000. The episode we wrote on, Cry Wilderness, has frequently been cited as a fan favorite.

Can you do [insert your favorite worst movie here]?
Definitely send us your ideas. We’re movie fans like you, and we have huge lists of movies we want to take on. But that doesn’t mean we won’t flip out with glee when you suggest a title we haven’t thought of yet.
How do you choose your movies?
The Gentlemen Hecklers have an encyclopedic knowledge of cheesy movies. There is no shortage of ideas for what to riff. First, we announce the film. Then we actually check to see if it’s available on DVD/Blu-Ray/etc. Then we apologize profusely and select another film. These steps are repeated until a physical copy of a movie is in the hands of The Gentlemen Hecklers. After that, we hand it over to the crack team at The Rio to do their booking magic.

How dare we, indeed? Everyone has a favorite movie, and not everyone is happy when it gets riffed. All we can say is if you arrive with an open mind, ready to laugh, then you’ll have a good time. We’re pretty funny. If you’ve already decided we’re The Devil for making jokes about your Greatest Movie Ever Made, then you should probably sit this one out. But come back for the next one!
